Colleen M. Crary, M.A., PhD Candidate
I have a great love and respect for education, and after a rewarding career in business, I now pursue academic excellence in psychology and forensic psychology. I long to sharing my combined academic training, life experience and business skills with students in an academic setting online.
Online education has revolutionized education, and leveled the playing field for students of all diversities. I have benefited from distance learning, having earned my Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in its first foray into online learning through its Accel Master’s Program in 2010. Currently I am in the research phase of my Ph.D. Psychology Dissertation at Walden University, focused on online virtual worlds and their use in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I have a talent for combining psychology, business, and technology into compelling learning plans, managing and organizing students around shared goals and improving relationships between academic colleagues. I am a user-interface (HCI) expert, skilled in working with IT to deliver superior service and planning to online students. I love mentoring students and acting as a catalyst to encourage their enthusiasm to blossom in the education process. Online education can be isolating for the student, so I utilize all outlets for communication to establish that “brick and mortar” Professor-Student rapport.
This starts by encouraging students to achieve their best, with a focus on overcoming psychological barriers to academic success by bringing together diverse interests and establishing common ground for mutually beneficial networking within the online classroom.
I look forward to speaking with you!
